Trommel Screen

Drum sieve is a kind of screening equipment that uses a rotating drum to perform particle size classification of materials, and is widely used in industries such as sand and gravel, coal, and waste treatment. It adopts the inclined rotation of the cylinder body to make the materials roll inside the cylinder; the fine materials smaller than the sieve holes fall down, while the coarse materials larger than the sieve holes are discharged from the tail, featuring less clogging and stable operation.

Drum Diameter:
Φ0.8m / Φ1.0m / Φ1.2m / Φ1.5m / Φ1.8m / Φ2.0m (Customizable)
Drum Length:
2m–8m (Customizable)
Processing Capacity:
5–200 t/h
Screen Aperture:
2–100mm, customizable mesh specifications
Drum Rotation Speed:
3–12 r/min
Installation Inclination Angle:
5°–16° (adjustable)

Classification

Classified by central shaft structure
Shafted drum sieves can screen granular, powdery and agglomerated lump materials. Shaftless drum sieves adopt a shaft-free design, suitable for screening easily entangled, large-volume and high-impact materials, with a 20% higher output compared with shafted models.

Classified by external structure
They can be divided into closed type and open type (cage drum sieve). Closed drum sieves keep the surrounding environment clean and protect screened materials from external environmental interference.

Working Principle

Inclined Rotation
The drum assembly is installed on the frame at an incline. The motor drives the drum to rotate around its axis through a reducer.

Material Tumbling
After materials enter from the feeding inlet, they continuously flip and roll with drum rotation, moving axially toward the lower end.

Classification & Discharge
Qualified materials smaller than the screen mesh openings (undersize materials) fall through the cylindrical screen and are discharged from the bottom outlet. Unqualified oversize materials larger than the openings keep moving and exit at the drum tail.

Anti-clogging Design
Flaps or cleaning devices are commonly fitted inside the drum. They tap the screen mesh during rotation to dislodge trapped particles and prevent screen blockage.

Advantages

Anti-clogging Performance
Built-in cleaning beaters automatically remove trapped materials in screen holes. It works well for sticky and wet materials and cuts downtime for manual cleaning.

Wide Material Compatibility
Shafted trommel screens handle granular, powdery and agglomerated lumps; shaftless models are ideal for tangled, large-size and high-impact raw materials for diverse applications.

Smooth Operation & Low Noise
Low-speed drum rotation creates minimal vibration with stable load, requiring less foundation bearing capacity.

High Throughput Capacity
The shaftless trommel delivers around 20% higher output than equivalent shafted versions to support continuous high-volume production.

Optional Sealed Structure
Closed-type models prevent dust leakage, protecting the working environment and screened materials from external contamination.

Easy Maintenance
Simple mechanical structure facilitates disassembly, inspection and screen mesh replacement, lowering operation and maintenance costs.
